Students Have a Ball at 1st Network Field Day

July 24, 2015

“You can do it Tanasia! Keep going!” yelled 6th grader Christopher to his teammate. It was the final round of the hurdle race and their team was about to win. Tanasia swiftly jumped over the final hurdle, passing the baton to Christopher and ensuring a win for their team. On May 29th, over 600 5th-7th grade students across the six Partnership schools took over Randall’s Island for the first annual Network Field Day. Students competed in three-legged races, capture the flag, and many other fun activities. The friendly competition allowed for fun icebreakers as students made new friends and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Teachers, staff and parent volunteers led the activities and had plenty of fun while doing so. The day ended with a picnic lunch with beautiful views of the East River. It was clear that everyone loved the outing and we cannot wait until next year’s Field Day!
